The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 e has launched today – joining the German marque’s compact SUV range in Australia with plug-in hybrid power – starting at $78,000 before on-road costs.

The GLA 250 e has been available elsewhere since 2020, but the electrified variant has remained elusive in the Australian market until now, serving as the new entry-point of Mercedes’ plug-in hybrid range.

The GLA 250 e is now the fifth Mercedes model currently on sale in Australia to offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain, joining the likes of the C 350 e as well as the C 63 and E 53 and GT 63 AMG models.

The powertrain consists of a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system – featuring an 11.5kWh lithium-ion battery – with a combined system output of 160kW and 450Nm. The GLA 250 e is capable of a claimed 65km of electric only driving range on the WLTP cycle.

The GLA 250 e rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and sports metallic paint and tinted and heated-insulated glass.

The equipment list on the GLA 250 e includes a panoramic sunroof, keyless-go, ambient lighting, wireless charging, two-zone climate control with rear air vent, heated synthetic leather front seats with memory and a 360-degree parking camera.

The safety suite of the Mercedes GLA 250 e includes active parking assist, blind spot assist with exit warning, active distance assist and lane keep assist.
