BRISBANE, 14th June 2023 — Indian automotive manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has brought its flagship SUV, the XUV700, to the Australian market. This launch aligns with the company's ongoing global expansion strategy and strengthens its presence in Australia, a region known for its demand for SUVs and Utes.

The XUV700 is built on an entirely new platform and incorporates features and design elements aimed at the Australian market. This model is a reflection of the brand's intent to increase its footprint in urban settings, with a focus on improving accessibility and convenience for customers, primarily in metropolitan areas.

Veejay Nakra, President – Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, announced the entry of the XUV700 into the Australian market, highlighting the vehicle's attributes, which include contemporary design, comfort, safety measures, and performance. The success of the XUV700 in the Indian market has provided a positive indicator for its potential performance in Australia.

The XUV700 SUV is equipped with several tech features, such as a dual HD 10.25" infotainment screen, a 10.25" digital cluster, and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The model also features a panoramic sunroof and 'Smart door handles' that are invisible, a first in this segment.

The vehicle has undergone extensive testing in various parts of the world to assess its reliability and performance across different conditions. The XUV700 is available in two variants and five colours. Driveaway prices start from AUD $36,990, with a 7-year or 150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first).

In India, the XUV700 has seen substantial sales and received multiple awards, including the "2022 Indian Car of the Year." These indicators suggest a positive market response to the vehicle.

The XUV700 houses a 2.0 L mStallion turbo-petrol engine, delivering a power of 149.2 kW at 5000 rpm and torque of 380 Nm from 1750 rpm onwards. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The SUV includes safety features such as seven airbags in the top variant and a comprehensive Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite. This suite incorporates Smart Pilot Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition.

The two available models at launch, the XUV700 AX7 priced at AUD $36,990 and the XUV700 AX7 L at AUD $39,990, are fitted with the new 2.0 litre Turbo-Gasoline engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. Colour options include Everest White, Midnight Black, Dazzling Silver, Red Rage, and the global launch colour, Electric Blue.

The launch of the XUV700 in Australia reflects Mahindra's plan to diversify and expand its product offerings in global markets.

I’m Matt, the Founder and CEO of CarSauce. I kicked things off back in 2020 with "Matt Brand Cars," back when it was just me and a camera trying to change how car reviews were done. Before I traded the corporate suit for steering wheels, I worked in management consulting at KPMG and in the aviation industry after finishing my Commerce degree at Melbourne Uni.‍ That business background helped me turn a passion project into what CarSauce is today, but my real goal is to make sure our reviews stay entertaining and honest. When I’m not deep in car specs, I’m usually on camera trying to keep Jacob in line - though, as you’ve probably seen, that’s easier said than done!
