Lexus Sets Pricing for Upcoming GX and LBX Models

Lexus Australia has announced the pricing details for its upcoming LBX and GX models, scheduled for release in the coming months. The LBX, categorized as a luxury compact SUV, will be available from March 18, starting at $47,550 plus on-road costs for the 2WD Luxury version. For those seeking additional features, the LBX Sports Luxury 2WD is priced at $52,990, and the LBX Sports Luxury AWD at $56,990, each plus on-road costs.

John Pappas, Lexus Australia's Chief Executive, highlighted the LBX's position within the compact car segment, emphasizing its hybrid efficiency and luxury features. He mentioned that the LBX aims to attract a younger demographic to Lexus, while also appealing to current customers looking for a smaller or second vehicle.

The addition of the GX off-roader to Lexus's lineup in mid-2024 will mark the brand's ninth new or next-generation model launch in Australia within a span of two and a half years. The GX is expected to complement Lexus's SUV lineup, which will then include seven models designed to meet a range of customer needs.

According to Pappas, there has been a positive response to the GX, particularly for its combination of luxury features and off-road capability. The GX will be available in Luxury and Sports Luxury grades, with options for a third row of seats.

The GX lineup starts with the GX 550 Luxury at $116,000, featuring 20-inch alloy wheels. The GX 550 Overtrail, aimed at outdoor enthusiasts, is priced at $122,250 and comes with 18-inch wheels and all-terrain tyres. The top-end GX 550 Sports Luxury, which includes 22-inch wheels and additional luxury features, is available at $128,200, each plus on-road costs.

Lexus will offer GX and LBX customers a three-year membership to Lexus Encore, providing benefits such as free Lexus service loan cars, vehicle collection & drop-off, capped price servicing, and access to exclusive offers and events.

The release date for the GX will be announced closer to its launch.

Should Chinese Cars Be Banned in Australia?

Banning Chinese cars in Australia makes no sense. With no local car industry to protect, tariffs would only hurt consumers and limit choice.
