Lexus Set to Release New GX 550 Model in Australia on May 21

On May 21, Lexus is scheduled to launch the GX 550 in Australia, introducing three versions of the model: the Overtrail, Luxury, and Sports Luxury.

The Overtrail is designed with off-road capabilities in mind, while the Luxury and Sports Luxury versions focus more on family-oriented features.

All three versions of the GX 550 will be powered by a V6 twin-turbo engine that produces 260kW and 650Nm of torque, suitable for enhanced performance and towing capacity.

The Luxury and Sports Luxury models will feature seating for seven, offering flexibility in passenger and storage space.

The Overtrail model, however, will be limited to five seats but will have additional load capacity for extended off-road trips.

This launch represents the third new vehicle segment Lexus has entered in the past six months in Australia, following the LM and LBX models.

The introduction of the GX expands Lexus's Australian portfolio to ten models since the brand first entered the market in 1990.

Complete specifications for all GX 550 grades will be disclosed on the release date.

Should Chinese Cars Be Banned in Australia?

Banning Chinese cars in Australia makes no sense. With no local car industry to protect, tariffs would only hurt consumers and limit choice.
