Hyundai Australia Launches the IONIQ 6: An Electric Mid-Size Sedan

Hyundai Australia has announced the IONIQ 6, an electric mid-size sedan, as a new addition to the IONIQ lineup. The IONIQ 6 can be ordered now through Hyundai Australia's website, joining the existing IONIQ 5.

Key features of the IONIQ 6 include:

  • Electrified-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) construction
  • 800V architecture for rapid charging (10-80% in 18 minutes)
  • Battery range of up to 614km (DYNAMIQ variant)
  • SmartSense™ driver assistance and active safety suite
  • ANCAP 5-star safety rating
  • Interior designed for space and flexibility
  • Use of sustainable materials in the cabin

The IONIQ 6 will be available in three trims with different powertrain options:

  1. Ioniq 6 Dynamiq:
  • RWD, 168kW electric motor
  • Single-speed reduction gear rear
  • 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery
  • $74,000 AUD MLP
  1. Ioniq 6 Techniq:
  • AWD, 165kW + 74kW electric motors rear/front
  • Single-speed reduction gear rear/front
  • 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery
  • $83,500 AUD MLP
  1. Ioniq 6 Epiq:
  • AWD, 165kW + 74kW electric motors rear/front
  • Single-speed reduction gear rear/front
  • 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery
  • $88,000 AUD MLP

All trims include:

  • Seven airbags
  • SmartSense™ advanced active safety and driver assistance technologies
  • 12.3-inch digital virtual instrument cluster and multimedia navigation unit
  • Bluelink® connected car services with Over-The-Air software update capability
  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility
  • BOSE audio system

Additional features include:

  • Power-adjustable, heated driver and front passenger seats with eco-processed leather
  • Leather-appointed steering wheel
  • Projector-type LED headlights, LED taillights, and 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Wireless smartphone charger, head-up display, and smart power bootlid

The IONIQ 6 has a functional design, with a drag coefficient of 0.217 (DYNAMIQ variant), contributing to its range. The exterior is available in eight paint colors, while the interior offers four upholstery combinations based on the exterior color.

Aftersales support and servicing will be provided by more than 80 Hyundai Blue Drive dealerships across Australia. Lifetime Service Plan pricing for the IONIQ 6 starts at $560 for both the 168kW 2WD and 239kW AWD powertrains.

The IONIQ 6 aims to offer an electric vehicle experience with a combination of modern technology, considerable range, and practical features in a well-designed package.

  • Price: $74,000 AUD MLP
  • Powertrain: 168kW electric motor, rear-wheel drive
  • Key features: 7 airbags, SmartSense™ suite, 12.3” digital instrument cluster and multimedia navigation unit, wireless phone charger, LED headlights and taillights, 18" alloy wheels, and Vehicle To Load (V2L) function.

IONIQ 6 TECHNIQ:

  • Price: $83,500 AUD MLP
  • Powertrain: 165kW + 74kW electric motors, all-wheel drive
  • Key additions over DYNAMIQ: HTRAC AWD, premium relaxation front seats, ventilated front seats, 20" alloy wheels, full-width glass sunroof, heated steering wheel, and heated rear seats.

IONIQ 6 EPIQ:

  • Price: $88,000 AUD MLP
  • Powertrain: 165kW + 74kW electric motors, all-wheel drive
  • Key additions over TECHNIQ: Digital Side Mirrors, high-efficiency heat pump-based heating, and battery conditioning system.
