Great Wall Motors (GWM), the global automobile manufacturer, has taken a major strategic step in the Australian market with a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of its Ora electric vehicle (EV) range. These measures include a reduction in prices, the introduction of a new Ultra grade, and the offer of a free charging station for certain models.

GWM announced yesterday a decrease in the pricing across its entire Ora EV range, effective from July. This move follows recent reductions in the costs of battery technology, which is the most significant component affecting the overall price of EVs. With the price cut, the Ora range now starts from just $39,990 plus On-Road Costs. The company's recommended driveaway prices for each model vary by state, with further details available on the GWM ANZ website.

In a bid to meet high customer demand and positive dealer feedback, GWM has also unveiled a new Ultra grade in the Ora lineup. Slotted between the Ora Extended Range and the GT, the new Ora Ultra comes with a host of additional comfort and convenience features. These include an electric hands-free tailgate, panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, 6-way electric driver's seat with memory, front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, and power adjustable, electric auto-folding mirrors with memory function. The Ora Ultra shares the same 63kWH ternary lithium battery pack as the Extended Range model, providing a range of up to 420km. The new model is priced at $48,990 plus On-Road Costs.

In another key move, starting from July, GWM will offer a free wall-mounted GWM Charging Station to buyers of the Ora Extended Range, Ora Ultra, and Ora GT. Under normal retail conditions, such a charging station would cost around $1,690. This offer is also retroactive, extending to customers who have already placed an order for a GWM Ora, and it will remain valid until September 30th, or until charger stocks last.

The GWM Charging Station is designed to connect to single-phase power and is compatible with the new GWM Ora and all Type-2 equipped EVs. Notably, the charging station uses RFID authentication for secure access to nominated users and can be conveniently installed in both homes and offices. However, it's important to note that installation is not included in the offer and should be arranged through a GWM-preferred installer or a chosen provider.

In addition to these new initiatives, all GWM products, including the new GWM Ora, come backed by a comprehensive 7-year / unlimited km warranty, 5-years roadside assistance, and 5-years Capped Price Servicing.

With these strategic decisions, GWM aims to enhance the value proposition of its Ora EV lineup and bolster its position in the competitive Australian EV market.
