It was another month of status quo, with the Toyota RAV4 topping the sales charts and beating out long-time best-sellers, the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux utes.

But it was another ute which has shot into the Top 10 for February – with the plug-in hybrid BYD Shark 6 kicking off deliveries, with 2026 vehicles sold in its first month.

The BYD Shark 6 was just four vehicle deliveries ahead of the Isuzu D-Max, but a few hundred behind the Mitsubishi Outlander in fifth.

On its own, the Chinese plug-in hybrid ute was just a dozen sales behind rival Chery’s total sales for February, and wasn’t far behind Volkswagen’s monthly tally.

The Shark 6 helped BYD have a gangbuster of a month – but it wasn’t quite enough for the brand to secure a Top 10 position, instead sitting in 11th behind Subaru.

It was a relatively poor month for the Ford Everest SUV, dropping 10 places – from ninth in January to 19th in February.
