Australian pricing and specifications have been confirmed for the 2026 Volkswagen Transporter van, with prices starting from $58,590 before on-road costs. 

The new Transporter’s powertrain options include a 125kW and 390Nm TDI diesel engine in two-wheel drive and 4MOTION all-wheel drive guises alongside a 210kW and 415Nm battery electric powertrain featuring a 64kWh battery. 

The Transporter will be available in short (SWB) and long wheelbase (LWB) guises from its Australian launch. 

An eHybrid plug-in hybrid transporter is also set for arrival in the first half of 2026, as well as a five-seat Crewvan in short and long wheelbase guises and a dual-cab long wheelbase six-seater. 

Towing capacity ranges between two tonnes in the two-wheel drive diesel and 2.8 tonnes in the 4MOTION all-wheel drive variants. 

Payloads range from 760kg in the long wheelbase BEV up to 1,062kg in the two-wheel drive diesel short wheelbase variant. 

Cargo volume ranges between 5.8m3 in the short wheelbase and 6.8m3 in the long wheelbase Transporter.

Standard features with the new Transporter include LED headlights and taillights, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen, heated front seats, wireless phone charging, seven USB ports, three folding roof racks, cargo tie-downs (six in the short wheelbase and eight in the long wheelbase), LED lights in the cab and load area, heated windows including the tailgate, and an ADAS safety suite. 

The 2026 Volkswagen Transporter is set for an Australian arrival in October 2025.
