The 2026 Volkswagen Tayron will join the Australian line-up in the fourth quarter of 2025, offering buyers a seven-seater SUV positioned between the smaller Tiguan and larger Touareg.
Volkswagen has introduced the Tayron as a replacement for the seven-seater Tiguan Allspace, however the new large SUV will be offered in Australia in both five- and seven-seat configurations.
The Tayron line-up will consist of three variants initially – the entry-level Life, mid-spec Elegance, and the range-topping R-Line – with a mix of three engines to choose from.

Kicking off the range is the 110TSI – exclusively available with the seven-seater Tayron Life – which uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine to send 110kW and 250Nm to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Buyers get Volkswagen’s widescreen Digital Cockpit Pro instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, satellite navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio, 360-degree camera, as well as a wireless smartphone charger, keyless entry and start, Park Assist Plus, a power tailgate, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Volkswagen’s Travel Assist – which adds adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist and stop-and-go – also comes standard, along with front AEB with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, road-sign recognition, exit warning, front cross-traffic assist with turning, rear cross-traffic alert, and nine airbags.

As the sole engine available in the five-seater Tayron Life and seven-seater Elegance, the 150TSI uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine to make 150kW and 320Nm.
The Tayron Elegance adds leather-appointed upholstery, ergonomic front power seats with memory and massage function, heated and ventilated front seats, heated outer second-row seats, heated steering wheel, LED Plus headlights with illuminated grille strip, LED tail-lights, rear privacy tint, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Meanwhile, the range-topping seven-seater Tayron R-Line gets the 195TSI powertrain, which is also a 2.0-litre turbo engine with all-wheel drive, but produces 195kW and 400Nm – allowing the variant to complete the 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 6.1 seconds.

The model also gets R-Line exterior and interior styling, progressive steering, 15-inch Discover Pro Max navigation, head-up display, Harman Kardon premium sound system, Matrix LED headlight with Dynamic Light Assist, animated rear indicators, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Several of the features on the Tayron R-Line can also be optioned on the Elegance variant, for those who want the extra technology but not the extra performance.

Buyers will be able to choose from six exterior paint colours at launch: Pure White, Oyster Silver Metallic, Dolphin Grey Metallic, Night Shade Blue Metallic, Granadilla Black Metallic, and Ultra Violet Premium Metallic.
Prices for the 2026 Volkswagen Tayron range are expected to be announced closer to the SUV’s launch towards the end of 2025.
