Nissan Australia has confirmed local pricing and grade specifications for the all-new "D27" fifth-generation Navara, ahead of its local showroom arrival in March 2026.

The new lineup consists of four Dual Cab 4x4 grades: SL, ST, ST-X, and the range-topping PRO-4X.

While sharing the "Alliance" platform with the Mitsubishi Triton, the new Navara enters the market at a higher price point, ranging from $53,348 to $68,418 (before on-roads).

Nissan has sought to justify this price premium through higher standard equipment levels, an extended warranty program, and bespoke local engineering.

When compared to its Alliance sibling, the Navara's higher price point reflects a strategy of including premium features as standard from the entry grade.

For instance, the Navara SL ($53,348) includes an electronic locking rear differential and LED lighting as standard, features that require a step up to the Triton GLX+ ($53,290).

The flagship PRO-4X ($68,418) includes a standard towbar, wiring kit and bespoke off-road suspension tuning, commanding a premium over the Triton GSR ($63,840), which lacks a standard towbar and features a global suspension tune.

Despite the higher price point than a Mitsubishi Triton, the Nissan Navara still undercuts key rivals in price and spec like the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger.

This new generation model marks a significant departure from its predecessor by adopting a leaf-spring rear suspension layout across the range to align with segment leaders like the Ford Ranger.

It also replaces the outgoing 2.3-litre engine with a more powerful 2.4-litre bi-turbo diesel developing 150kW and 470Nm.

These updates were first previewed during our initial look at the D27 platform last year, but we now have the final figures that complete the picture.

A key differentiator for the Australian market is a suspension system developed, tested, and tuned by local specialist Premcar. The suspension upgrades are manufactured in South Australia.

The engineering program involved over 18,000 kilometres of testing across varied Australian terrain, including the Outback, to ensure stability and comfort under heavy loads.

Unlike the standard global "Alliance" tune found in its platform sibling, the Navara features three distinct, model-specific tunes fitted locally at the dealership.

The SL grade receives a heavy-duty tune for work applications, while the ST utilises a comfort-oriented "lifestyle" tune.

The higher ST-X and PRO-4X grades are equipped with a tune focused on technical off-road performance.

The entire range is powered by the 2.4-litre bi-turbo diesel engine matched exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Maximum braked towing capacity is rated at 3,500kg, with combined cycle fuel consumption listed at 7.7L/100km across all variants.

Drivetrain capability varies by grade, with the SL and ST utilising an "Easy Select" dual-range 4WD system, while the ST-X and PRO-4X feature "Super 4WD" with a Torsen limited-slip centre differential and seven selectable terrain modes.

Standard equipment on the entry-level SL includes an electronic locking rear differential, LED headlamps, and a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay.

Moving up to the ST grade adds 17-inch alloy wheels, heated power-folding mirrors, a leather-accented steering wheel, and a sports bar.

The ST-X further adds leather-accented upholstery, heated front seats with power adjustment for the driver, dual-zone climate control, and a wireless smartphone charger.

The flagship PRO-4X is distinguished by a factory-fitted towbar, unique black exterior styling with lava red accents, and 17-inch matte black alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres.

To further distinguish the Navara from its platform sibling, Nissan is offering the "Nissan MORE" ownership program.

This program provides up to 10 years or 300,000km of warranty coverage and roadside assistance when servicing with authorised Nissan dealers.

Flat-price servicing is also capped at $499 for each of the first five scheduled services.

The vehicle has launched with a 5-Star ANCAP safety rating, supported by eight standard airbags and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems.

Vehicles are expected to be available for delivery from March 2026.

FAQ

Is the 2026 Nissan Navara just a rebadged Mitsubishi Triton?

keyboard_arrow_down

While both vehicles share the same "Alliance" ladder-frame chassis, 2.4-litre bi-turbo engine, and six-speed automatic transmission, they are not identical. The Navara features a unique exterior design, higher levels of standard equipment (such as standard LED lighting and rear differential locks on the base grade), and a bespoke suspension system developed specifically for Australia by Premcar.

What makes the Premcar suspension different from the standard Triton setup?

keyboard_arrow_down

Unlike the global suspension tune used by Mitsubishi, Nissan partnered with Melbourne-based Premcar to develop three model-specific tunes for the Australian Navara. These tunes—spanning heavy-duty for work, lifestyle for comfort, and off-road for performance—feature unique dampers and were tested over 18,000 kilometres of local terrain to ensure superior stability and ride quality under Australian conditions.

How does the 10-year Nissan MORE warranty work?

keyboard_arrow_down

The Navara comes with a standard 5-year/unlimited kilometre warranty. However, by servicing your vehicle within the authorised Nissan dealer network, you can unlock a "service-activated" warranty that extends your coverage by one year with each service, up to a maximum of 10 years or 300,000 kilometres. This also applies to the provided 24/7 roadside assistance.

What is the difference between "Easy Select" and "Super 4WD"?

keyboard_arrow_down

"Easy Select" is a traditional dual-range 4WD system (standard on SL and ST) that allows drivers to switch between 2H, 4H, and 4L. The "Super 4WD" system (standard on ST-X and PRO-4X) adds a Torsen limited-slip centre differential, allowing for a full-time 4WD mode safe for use on sealed roads. It also includes seven selectable terrain modes, such as Mud, Sand, and Rock.

What are the towing and payload capacities of the new Navara?

keyboard_arrow_down

Every variant in the 2026 Navara range achieves a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg. Payload varies by grade, starting at 964kg for the flagship PRO-4X and reaching up to 1,064kg for the entry-level SL Dual Cab. All grades feature a strengthened rear axle and a move back to a leaf-spring rear suspension to better support these heavy loads.

Is there a new Navara Warrior coming?

keyboard_arrow_down

Nissan has previewed a PRO-4X Warrior Concept developed alongside Premcar, which features lifted suspension, a wider track, and 32-inch all-terrain tyres. While a production version has not yet been fully detailed, Nissan has indicated that a new flagship Warrior variant is expected to follow the mainstream range later in 2026.
