Australian pricing has been officially announced for the 2026 BYD ATTO 2 small electric SUV, with prices starting at $31,990 before on-road costs.

The BYD ATTO 2 is now the cheapest electric SUV on sale in Australia, taking the title away from the Leapmotor B10, which is priced from $38,990 drive-away.

Two variants comprise the Australian model lineup for BYD’s new entry-level SUV: the entry-level Dynamic and a higher-spec Premium variant.

Both versions are powered by a front electric motor – producing 130kW and 290Nm – sourcing electricity from a 51.13 kWh Blade battery. The ATTO 2 accelerates from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds, and has a WLTP driving range of 345km.

The BYD ATTO 2 supports 7kW AC charging and 82kW DC charging, the latter allowing for 10 to 80 per cent charges to be completed in a little over 38 minutes.

Exterior features on the Dynamic variant include 16-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable, heated and defrosting exterior mirrors, a soundproof front windscreen, and LED headlights, daytime running lights, rear light bar and high-mounted brake light.

Inside, it gets a 10.1-inch rotating infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a four-speaker sound system, synthetic leather seats, a multi-function steering wheel, manually adjustable front seats (six ways for the driver and four ways for the passenger), and a one-touch up and down driver’s door window switch with anti-pinch.

The BYD ATTO 2 also gets Eco, Normal, and Snow driving modes as standard.

Standard safety features include, but are not limited to, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Assist and Emergency Lane Keep Assist, Rear Collision Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Adaptive and Intelligent Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, front, front side and front and rear side curtain airbags, rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera.

As for the Premium variant – priced at $35,990 before on-road costs – its exterior additions include 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, roof racks, and electronic folding mirrors.

Inside, it gets a larger 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, heated, ventilated, and electrically adjustable front seats (six-way for the driver, four-way for the passenger), a panoramic glass roof with a sunshade, and an 8-speaker sound system.

As for safety features, compared to the Dynamic variant, the Premium model receives a 360-degree camera and front parking sensors.

The 2026 BYD ATTO 2 is expected in Australia in December.
