
UPDATE – Tuesday 6 May 2025: The 2025 Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 electric vehicle line-ups have expanded, with the addition of the ID.5 Pro and the sporty ID.4 GTX.
Volkswagen launched the two models alongside each other two months ago, with the ID.4 Pro and ID.5 GTX the only vehicles on offer. Now, buyers can choose from either Pro or GTX grades in both models.

Priced from $62,990 before on-road costs, the the ID.5 Pro is powered by a single electric motor on the rear axle, putting out 210kW and 545Nm – offering a claimed driving range of 543 kilometres, thanks to its 82kWh battery.
The hotter ID.4 GTX uses dual electric motors for all-wheel-drive traction, with a maximum of 250kW and 679Nm, and the 82kWh battery providing 511 kilometres of claimed range – with pricing from $69,990 before on-road costs.

The two newcomers can hit 100km/h from a standstill in 6.7 and 5.4 seconds, respectively.

Monday 3 March 2025: Australian pricing for the 2025 Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 electric SUVs has been released, with segment leaders Tesla and BYD firmly in the company’s crosshairs.
The ID.4 Pro – the first electric car to arrive here from Volkswagen – will be priced from $59,990 before on-road costs, with deliveries to begin in mid-2025.

While the entry-level Tesla Model Y is cheaper at $55,900 plus on-road costs, the Volkswagen ID.4 Pro has a claimed WLTP driving range of 544 kilometres – compared to the Tesla’s 510 kilometres.
The ID.4 Pro is powered by a single electric motor sending 210kW and 545Nm to the rear wheels, fed from an 82kWh battery – for a claimed 0-100km/h time of 6.7 seconds.

Buyers get powered and heated front seats with massage function, a heated steering wheel, 12.9-inch infotainment screen with DAB+ digital radio and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, wireless smartphone charging, tri-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof with blind, LED headlights and tail-lights, and two charging cables.
Meanwhile, the slightly larger coupe-syled ID.5 GTX will be priced from $72,990 before on-road costs, with dual electric motors powering all four wheels for a combined output of 250kW and 679Nm.

The slightly larger 84kWh battery offers a claimed driving range of 522 kilometres (WLTP), with a 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.4 seconds.
In addition to the ID.4 Pro’s features, the ID.5 GTX gains 20-inch alloy wheels – up from 19 inches – as well as sports seats and a Harman Kardon premium sound system.
