2025 Toyota Tundra Limited to Go on Sale in Australia with Premium Grade Set for 2025

Toyota has confirmed that the full-size 2025 Tundra pickup will be available for sale in Australia starting in November 2024 with the Limited grade. A top-of-the-range Premium grade will follow in Q2, 2025. This announcement comes after a six-year re-engineering process that converted the Tundra from left-hand drive to right-hand drive, now approved for the Australian market.

Toyota partnered with Walkinshaw Automotive Group for this world-first re-engineering project. The vehicle will be produced at Walkinshaw’s Melbourne manufacturing facility. This is the first time Toyota has collaborated with a third-party organisation for such a large-scale conversion, ensuring the re-engineered Tundra meets Toyota’s global standards of quality, durability, and reliability.

Until recently, the Tundra was available only through a lease program as part of Toyota’s local testing phase. Known as the ‘Tundra Insider Program,’ this initiative allowed customers to provide feedback while Toyota finalised the vehicle’s performance under real-world conditions. These customers will continue to drive their vehicles through the end of their 12-month evaluation period.

Sean Hanley, Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Franchise Operations at Toyota Australia, explained the complexity of the re-engineering process, saying, ‘This is not just a "simple" left to right-hand drive conversion. The Tundra has been completely re-engineered by Toyota engineers working closely with Walkinshaw.’ He also highlighted the importance of the collaboration, adding, ‘We couldn’t have done it without the great cooperation of Walkinshaw, Toyota North America, and the hundreds of customers that have been evaluating and reporting on the vehicle’s performance.’

The 2025 Tundra, in both the Limited and upcoming Premium grade, is built on the TNGA-F platform, which also underpins the LandCruiser 300 Series. Powering both models is a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 i-FORCE MAX engine, generating 326kW of power and 790Nm of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Tundra also features a part-time 4WD system with a dual-range transfer case and offers a braked towing capacity of 4.5 tonnes.

The Limited grade is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, leather-accented seats with power adjustment, heating and ventilation for the driver and front passenger, and a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen with a 12-speaker JBL audio system. Other features include wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, and a trailer brake controller.

The Premium grade, launching in 2025, will offer additional luxury features, including a unique grille, black-painted alloy wheels, and a black-accented tailgate. It will also feature a panoramic moonroof. Inside, the Premium model includes leather-accented seats with a massage function, heated and ventilated rear seats, a power-adjustable steering column, a heated steering wheel, and a 10.9-inch head-up display.

Further details on the 2025 Toyota Tundra Limited and the Premium grade will be shared closer to their respective launch dates.
