2025 Kia EV4: Electric Sedan and Hatch For Australia

The 2025 Kia EV4 has made its debut at the company’s EV Day in Spain, with confirmation the electric sedan and hatch will be coming to the Australian market.

Along with two body styles – a fastback sedan and a wagon-esque hatch – Kia will offer the EV4 with two battery packs: a 58.3kWh standard battery, and a long-range 81.4kWh battery.

Underpinned by Kia’s 400-volt E-GMP architecture, the batteries feed a 150kW electric motor driving the front wheels.

The slicker sedan has a claimed driving range of up to 430 kilometres for the standard-range, or up to 630 kilometres of driving on a single charge for the long-range on the WLTP standard, thanks to a drag coefficient of 0.23Cd – matching the aerodynamics of a Tesla Model 3.

While the wagon provides greater practicality, the boxier (and less aerodynamic) dimensions mean a slightly lower driving range, with up to 590km with the long-range battery.

However, the smaller battery provides some weight savings, allowing for a quicker 0-100km/h time of 7.4 seconds – compared to 7.7 seconds for the long-range version.

Inside, occupants are greeted with a 30-inch screen incorporating a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, and a 5.3-inch screen for climate controls located between. Ahead of the driver is a 12-inch head-up display.

The EV4 also comes with an AI (artificial intelligence) Assistant, while Vehicle Smart TV allows passengers to stream videos and movies on YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, along with games and karaoke.

Above the centrally-located vents and thumbwheel for the volume are button shortcuts for the home screen, satellite navigation, search function, media player, set-up, and a customisable star button.

Below the vents are basic quick-access switches for temperature and climate control modes.

There’s also a wireless smartphone charger, two USB-C plugs, and a traditional 12-volt power supply up front, as well as ambient lighting.

Images indicate the buttons for seat heating and ventilation, and steering wheel heating, have moved to the door – just ahead of the handle.

Kia says it’s targeting a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating – which will likely translate to a five-star ANCAP rating, if successful – thanks to the company’s latest Autonomous Driving Assist System.

The Kia EV4 also has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities, allowing the car to either power compatible households in the event of a blackout, or supply electricity directly back into the grid.

“Kia Australia is pleased to confirm the EV4 will join the range of Kia’s battery electric vehicle models in Australia,” a spokesperson for the company told CarSauce in a provided statement.

“Further information regarding timing, variants, features, and pricing will be announced in due course.”
