Hyundai has revealed a refreshed version of its IONIQ 6 electric vehicle at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, alongside a new N Line variant, marking the next step in the brand’s evolution of its 'electrified streamliner' design language.

The updated IONIQ 6 introduces subtle but notable design changes under the theme "Pure Flow, Refined." These include a reshaped front end with a more pronounced shark-nose design, a revised lower body garnish that visually extends through the doors, and the removal of the prominent rear spoiler in favour of a sleeker ducktail treatment. Hyundai says these changes aim to enhance aerodynamic performance while giving the car a smoother, more modern profile.

At the front and rear, slimmer lighting elements and horizontal visual cues offer a wider stance. Chrome accents on the rear bumper and the new split daytime running lights (DRLs) complete the revised exterior look.

Inside, the IONIQ 6 continues to follow Hyundai’s 'Mindful Cocoon' concept but now benefits from material upgrades and a more intuitive layout. A redesigned steering wheel, improved door trims, and a larger climate control display are among the changes aimed at improving usability and perceived quality. The centre console has also been revised to enhance everyday functionality.

Joining the standard model, the new IONIQ 6 N Line variant debuts with a more aggressive exterior inspired by Hyundai's RN22e concept. Wing-shaped bumpers front and rear, prominent black detailing, and a sculpted side profile with pronounced sills give the N Line a lower and more assertive appearance. Parametric Pixel elements carry over to this variant, reinforcing the brand’s EV design identity.

Hyundai used the event to confirm that a full-fat IONIQ 6 N will be revealed in July 2025. It is expected to follow the performance and dynamic formula established by the IONIQ 5 N.

In Australia, the IONIQ 6 has seen limited sales uptake. Just 9 units were sold in February 2025, down from 27 during the same month in 2024. Year-to-date figures show 23 deliveries in 2025, a 66.7% drop compared to the 69 units sold by this time last year. The updated model may help revive interest in the streamlined EV, though Hyundai Australia has yet to confirm local specifications.

The facelifted IONIQ 6 and its N Line variant are expected to arrive in Australia later in 2025. Powertrain details and final local specifications have not yet been confirmed. A Hyundai Australia spokesperson told CarSauce the facelifted model is scheduled for the second half of 2025, and 2023 stock of the outgoing version remains available.

The IONIQ 6 N has also been confirmed for Australia, though final specifications will be announced closer to launch. The IONIQ 6 N, once officially launched, is also likely to be offered locally as part of Hyundai's expanding N performance EV strategy.

Key Changes to the 2025 IONIQ 6:

  • Redesigned shark-nose front with slimmer lighting elements
  • Lower body garnish extended through the side profile
  • Rear spoiler replaced with sleeker ducktail design
  • Revised front and rear bumpers with chrome accents

  • Redesigned steering wheel and upgraded door trim materials

Matt Brand
I’m Matt, the Founder and CEO of CarSauce. I kicked things off back in 2020 with "Matt Brand Cars," back when it was just me and a camera trying to change how car reviews were done. Before I traded the corporate suit for steering wheels, I worked in management consulting at KPMG and in the aviation industry after finishing my Commerce degree at Melbourne Uni.‍ That business background helped me turn a passion project into what CarSauce is today, but my real goal is to make sure our reviews stay entertaining and honest. When I’m not deep in car specs, I’m usually on camera trying to keep Jacob in line - though, as you’ve probably seen, that’s easier said than done!
