2024 MINI Countryman Price and Specs for Australia

The 2024 Mini Countryman is set to make its debut in Australian showrooms early next year, marking the arrival of its third generation. This new model comes with a significantly larger body and an extended list of features, which is reflected in the price increases for some of the variants.

Scheduled for availability between January and March 2024, the Countryman will launch with six initial variants, covering both front- and all-wheel drive options. Notably, high-performance John Cooper Works (JCW) and electric variants are expected to join the lineup later in the year.

In terms of pricing, the entry-level Countryman C Core is now starting at $49,990 plus on-road costs, which is a $1,140 increase from its predecessor. The Cooper C Classic is priced at $52,990, and the Countryman C Favoured at $55,990. For those interested in all-wheel drive, the Countryman S All4 starts from $58,990 and goes up to $63,990.

The new Countryman is the largest in Mini's range, despite its classification as a small SUV. It measures 4433mm in length, 1843mm in width, and 1656mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2692mm. This increase in size is claimed to enhance passenger comfort and versatility.

Under the hood, the Countryman offers a choice of two turbocharged petrol engines. The front-wheel drive versions are powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine producing 115kW of power and 230Nm of torque, while the all-wheel-drive models feature a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine developing 150kW and 300Nm. Both engines are mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Countryman C can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 9.0 seconds, and the Countryman S in 7.4 seconds.

A standout feature of the 2024 model is the new 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system, running Mini Operating System 9 and offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In a move towards sustainability, Mini is no longer offering any leather products or chrome finishes in its vehicles from 2024 onwards, instead providing a range of sustainable options for interior trims and exterior highlights.

The boot capacity of the Countryman is 505 litres, which can be expanded to 1530 litres with the second row of seats folded. As for safety, the 2024 Mini Countryman hasn't been crash-tested by ANCAP or Euro NCAP at this stage and remains unrated. The vehicle is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, although details on logbook servicing intervals and pricing have not been announced yet.

The 2024 Mini Countryman brings more space, enhanced features, and updated technology to the table. However, these come with higher price tags compared to the previous model. Potential buyers will have to consider these factors, along with the pending safety ratings, when evaluating the new Countryman. The introduction of electric and JCW variants later in the year will further expand Mini's offerings in the SUV market.
