2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan: New Hybrid, Pricing and Specs Announced

Hyundai has unveiled the 2024 i30 Sedan. The sedan features refreshed styling, an updated range of features, and, for the first time, an efficient Hybrid powertrain option.

The petrol/electric Hybrid system is a significant addition to the i30 range in Australia. Boasting an impressive fuel economy of 3.9L/100km (ADR combined cycle), the hybrid system offers an efficient and enjoyable driving experience.

Safety and convenience are paramount in the 2024 i30 Sedan with the inclusion of Bluelink™ connected car services. These services aim to enhance the vehicle's security and the driver's peace of mind.

The 2024 i30 Sedan is now available for purchase, with prices starting from $29,000 (MLP).

Engine Options

SmartStream G2.0 MPi Atkinson

?The entry-level powertrain for the i30 Sedan is the upgraded SmartStream G2.0 MPi. This engine is now equipped with Dual-Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT), a Two-stage Variable Intake System (VIS), and works on an Efficient Atkinson combustion cycle. The engine is paired with a SmartStream Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) which provides a familiar driving experience similar to a conventional automatic transmission. The IVT also comes with eight virtual gears and a sequential manual mode, enhancing the driving experience while also improving efficiency and providing a more refined drive.

SmartStream G1.6 T-GDi

?For those seeking a higher performance option, the SmartStream G1.6 T-GDi is the perfect fit. This powertrain offers higher power and torque in a refined package, paired with a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission for an engaging and sporty drive. The engine utilizes Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology to continually adjust the opening duration of the intake valves. This results in a responsive engine with impressive torque and power outputs, without compromising on fuel efficiency.

1.6 GDi Hybrid - NEW

?The latest addition to the i30 Sedan's lineup is the 1.6 GDi Hybrid, derived from IONIQ’s petrol/electric hybrid system. The hybrid system primarily uses the petrol engine, with a 1.32kWh battery-powered electric motor providing assistance when needed. This results in a driving experience similar to a conventional internal combustion engine vehicle but with substantially less fuel consumption. The hybrid system recharges the high-voltage battery through regenerative braking, capturing kinetic energy that would otherwise be lost as heat. The electric motor and petrol engine work in harmony to deliver a strong and smooth torque curve, with a peak torque of 265Nm. The 2024 i30 Sedan Hybrid achieves 3.9L/100km ADR combined cycle fuel economy, and 2.8L/100km on the ADR urban cycle. At low speeds or when stationary, the i30 Sedan Hybrid can operate in EV mode, using battery power alone.
